01Who we are
Butler is a cleaning platform that connects homeowners and businesses with independent cleaning professionals (Butlers) and cleaning companies (Partners) in Ottawa–Gatineau.
By default, the person with the highest authority at Butler acts as the person in charge of the protection of personal information. You can reach them at support@butlerapp.co.
02Information we collect
On the website, we only collect what you give us:
- Launch list: your email, your profile (homeowner, Butler, Partner or business), language, the page you wrote from and the date of your consent.
- Business quote request: company name, your name, your work email, type of premises, floor area and desired frequency.
- Technical data: like any website, our host keeps connection logs (IP address, browser, date) for security and proper operation.
In the Butler apps, we also collect what the service needs: name, contact details, address of the home or premises, booking details, messages, ratings and end-of-job photos. Payments are handled by a secure payment provider: Butler does not keep full card numbers.
The website does not use advertising cookies or advertising trackers.
03Why we use it
- To write to you on the app’s launch day, if you joined the list.
- To answer your quote request.
- To provide, manage and improve Butler services: bookings, matching, tracking, payment and support.
- To keep the platform secure and prevent fraud.
- To meet our legal obligations.
We only use your information for the purposes stated when it was collected, unless you consent or the law requires it.
04Your consent
Joining the launch list relies on your explicit consent (checkbox). You can withdraw it at any time by writing to us: your email will then be removed from the list.
06Storage outside Quebec or Canada
Some of our providers may store data outside Quebec or Canada. Before any transfer, we assess the protection offered and set it out in a contract, as the law requires.
07How long we keep it
- Launch list: until the app launches, for at most 24 months, or until you withdraw your consent.
- Quote requests: for as long as it takes to handle the request and any resulting business relationship.
- App accounts: while the account is active, then as long as the law requires (for example, accounting and tax records).
After that, information is securely deleted or anonymized.
08Security
We protect your information with technical and organizational measures: encrypted connections, access limited to the people who need it, data files kept away from the website’s public pages. If a confidentiality incident presents a risk of serious injury, we notify the people concerned and the competent authorities.
09Your rights
- Access the information we hold about you and get a copy.
- Have it corrected if it is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Withdraw your consent and ask for it to be deleted.
- Ask for it to be sent to you in a structured, commonly used technological format.
Write to us at support@butlerapp.co. We reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
10Minors
The Butler website and apps are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information about people under 14.
11Changes
We may update this policy. The date of the last update is shown at the top of the page; if there is a significant change, we will let you know.
